Pandurević during debate on Consumer Protection Law: 22 people killed themselves, should 22 more?

The proposed law on amendments to the Consumer Protection Law in BiH came before the deputies of the PD PS BiH, who opened a debate, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Hazim Rančić (SDA) said that this law could not be applied retroactively, but that it would be good to prevent future situations.

Dušanka Majkić (SNSD) said that it would not be good to adopt this law because it would not "bring anything good".

- Amending this law is not a solution. We have done nothing, we have created even greater chaos - said Majkić, stating that the law is problematic because it very carefully elaborated on jurisdictions.

Aleksandra Pandurević (SDS) said that there are lower levels of government that need to do their job.

- 22 people killed themselves, should 22 more do it? We hope that SNSD will remain principled and vote for this law - said Pandurević, emphasizing that tomorrow the dollar could go wild.

- The goal is to prevent such things from happening again. We were elected to protect the interests of those who elected us, not any bank in the country - said Pandurević.

Momčilo Novaković (NDP) said that it will not solve the existing problem we have, the principles of the law are not the problem, this law does not prevent the entity from adopting solutions for what was and what could potentially happen.

Deputy Chair of the PD PS BiH Šefik Džaferović (SDA) said that a way must be found to correct the injustice.

- For a person to take a loan and become a slave to that loan. What the Council of Ministers of BiH did is based on what the PD PS BiH previously adopted, and it is the least we can do to adopt the principles of this law. With this law, we are resolving cases for the future. No other currency comes into consideration except the euro. What about the cases that prompted us to make this change, people got burned. I call on the Council of Ministers of BiH to look at some solutions from the region on how to proceed, to try to incorporate provisions into the law to protect people who have already taken loans. We do not have to adopt the law within the specified deadline, but rather find solutions within the existing law to protect those who have taken loans - said Džaferović.
