Palmer and Eichhorst in meetings from eight in the morning: Deadline for election law changes moved to spring

(Patria) - US representative for election law reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina Matthew Palmer has arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Angelina Eichhorst, director at the European External Action Service, arrives this evening.

Starting at eight in the morning, a meeting begins at the EU Delegation in BiH, and at 10 a.m. at the residence of the US ambassador to BiH, where meetings with politicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held throughout the day. The following day, November 30, and December 1, meetings are also planned.

Incidentally, according to Palmer's statements in an interview with Radio Free Europe, the set deadline for changes to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina has apparently been moved.

The international community has intensified efforts in recent months to reach an agreement among political leaders in BiH, stressing that reforms must be carried out this non-election year.

„If we work backwards from the elections, which are scheduled for next autumn, we really need to have everything resolved by spring – meaning we only have a few months to work on it. I hope that this pressure will serve to focus political leaders and convince them of the importance of reaching a compromise quickly,“ Palmer states in the interview.
