Burning of the City Hall the third greatest barbaric act in human history!

The burning of Sarajevo's City Hall during the aggression against BiH is the third worst barbaric act in human history, according to data from the website “Global Data Vault“, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). Namely, this website has created a graphical representation of the destruction of data, i.e., books, documents, and archives, throughout human history. The events were ranked according to available data on the amount of destroyed information.

More than 1.5 million books and documents were destroyed and irretrievably lost in the barbaric act of burning the City Hall. In first place for the number of destroyed books are the libraries in Poland, which were destroyed during the Nazi invasion from 1939 to 1945.

More than 16 million books were destroyed in the bombings, as stated. The second greatest act of destruction of information and knowledge is also the Nazi book burning in German libraries, where more than 10,000,000 volumes were destroyed forever.

According to the graphic we are publishing, great destruction was also suffered by the Alexandrian Royal Library throughout history, where 500,000 scrolls were destroyed. The National Library of Serbia was also listed, with 508,702 volumes, and the Iraqi and Abkhazian National Libraries with just under half a million destroyed copies.

Several tens of thousands were destroyed in the Library of Maya Religious Books. The graphic also records another major barbaric act from the recent war: the burning of the Oriental Institute in Sarajevo, which destroyed at least 17,000 books, reports NAP.

The City Hall was only recently renovated, while the Oriental Institute has not yet been.
