Paljanska car thieves targeting Sarajevo

The Sarajevo settlement of Dobrinja has recently been targeted by car thieves who, threatening with weapons, steal cars from guarded parking lots or even vehicles left unattended for a moment, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

As the BiH news agency Patria has learned, these are two groups coming from Republika Srpska, whose border is in close proximity to this settlement.

While one group carries out thefts armed with assault rifles and balaclavas, the other uses pistols. However, the brutality of the thieves is increasingly common, as they threaten guards with weapons or hold them at gunpoint while others steal the vehicle.

In the last 15 days, two vehicles have been stolen from Dobrinja, and an attempt was made to steal a third. One of the stolen vehicles belonged to a Sarajevo taxi company and was brand new.

As Patria's sources reveal, these two vehicles were stolen in exactly the same way. The vehicles stopped at a bus lay-by, and while the drivers got out for a few seconds to a nearby kiosk, the thieves, who were observing the situation from their car, seized the moment and drove the cars towards Lukavica.

As Patria has learned, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska is well aware of the car theft cases in Sarajevo, because at a meeting organized some time ago, it was "threatened" that "no vehicle should be stolen in Pale and Sokolac," and therefore it is not surprising that there is no greater coordination between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska.
