Caught at the Border: Smuggling Sneakers, Medicines, Creams, and Vitamins Across the Drina River by Boat

Members of the Zvornik Border Police Unit prevented the smuggling of a large quantity of goods from the Republic of Serbia into Bosnia and Herzegovina, including: 1,824 clothing items of brands Adidas, Nike, Boss, Armani, 1,000 plastic fence brackets, 6,802 boxes of various tablets, some of which are on the list of prohibited imports and the list of psychotropic substances (including Kamagra, Viagra, Bromazepam, Lorazepam, Lexaurin), as well as creams and bottles of vitamins, reports the news agency Patria.

The smuggling was discovered in the locality of Kozluk when two unknown persons, using a boat across the Drina River, moved the goods to a tractor located on the BiH bank, after which they noticed the officers and retreated by river towards Serbia.

Not far from this location, a tractor without license plates was stopped, driven by R. M. (born 1969), a citizen of BiH. A report will be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH against this person due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of smuggling.

Police officers of the Central Investigation Bureau and the Northwest Field Office of the Border Police of BiH, in the area of Bosanska Gradiška and Banja Luka, in cooperation with the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, conducted a search of a truck and trailer with Macedonian license plates and found leather goods and textile products suspected of being counterfeit brands.

A total of 11,200 items with a market value of approximately 250,000 KM were temporarily seized. Due to reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of unauthorized use of copyright, two citizens of the Republic of Macedonia (M. A. and M. H.) as well as a BiH citizen N. J. were questioned. Work on this case continues under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the Border Police of BiH announced.
