Palestinian community in BiH: We welcome the announced ceasefire in Palestine

(Patria) - The Palestinian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes the announced ceasefire in Palestine, expressing hope that this will be the first step towards a lasting cessation of violence and an end to the long-standing suffering of the Palestinian people.

"We deeply sympathize with all innocent victims and their families and express our hope that this ceasefire will stop the further killing and forced expulsion of Palestinian civilians, which represents a serious violation of fundamental human rights and international law.

We call on the international community not to turn a blind eye to the committed crimes, but to decisively support the prosecution of all those responsible, including those who have committed genocide against the Palestinian people. Justice and accountability must be the foundation of any future initiative for peace and reconciliation.

The Palestinian community in BiH remains committed to supporting our people in our homeland and appeals to all relevant factors to contribute through their actions to building a just and lasting peace that will enable a dignified life for all people in Palestine", it is stated.

Dr. Majed Maarouf, president of the Palestinian community in BiH, believes that the achieved ceasefire represents an important step towards ending the long-standing violence in Palestine and restoring hope for lasting peace.

"We welcome the commitment of the newly elected US President Donald Trump, who acted decisively to achieve this agreement. His direct involvement in the negotiations shows that the international community, with the right leadership, is capable of ensuring concrete steps towards justice and stability", said Maarouf.
