Patients from Podhrastovi transferred to appalling conditions in the old building of the Clinic for Abdominal Surgery

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Patients who were until recently accommodated at the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases “Podhrastovi” have been moved to the old building of the Clinic for Abdominal Surgery, where, according to information obtained by the Patria agency, chaotic and unacceptable conditions prevail. 

As a family member of one of the patients (name known to the editorial board) told us, the old building of the abdominal surgery clinic is a “building of horror and terror.” 

“It truly is a building of horror and terror. Did they reserve such a building for veterans of the Homeland War and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina?” says an outraged family member of a patient currently located in the aforementioned building. 

He adds that the windows in the building are “appalling,” that some rooms have no doors, and that drafts come from all sides. 

“The walls (partitions) are made of hardboard (containing carcinogenic asbestos). It is unsuitable for both patients and staff. Patients are in cubicles with two beds each. It is total chaos there,” the same source told Patria. 

We remind that the Minister of Health of the Sarajevo Canton stated on Tuesday at the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton that she has information from the Crisis Staff that an isolation ward will be set up at Podhrastovi, at the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases, for patients showing symptoms of the coronavirus. Those currently there will be transferred to the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo.
