Boris Johnson, first UK prime minister in 199 years to marry while in office, ties the knot

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancée Carrie Symonds have married in London, London media report.

The media state that Johnson (56) and Symonds (33) married in a private ceremony at Westminster Cathedral, in the presence of a small number of friends and relatives.

The tabloid The Sun reports that even members of Johnson's government were not aware that the wedding was planned. According to British regulations introduced to combat the coronavirus, a maximum of 30 people may attend weddings.

Johnson and Symonds announced their engagement in February 2020. They have a one-year-old son, Wilfred.

The prime minister has two previous marriages behind him, while this is Symonds' first husband.

The last British prime minister to marry while in office was Lord Liverpool, 199 years ago.
