Ice rink opened at Coca-Cola Sarajevo Holiday Market

At the sixth Coca-Cola Sarajevo Holiday Market, which opened two days ago in Hastahana Park on Marijin Dvor, on Friday, 9 December 2016, in the evening hours, an ice rink was also opened, where visitors will be able to skate for free. The honour of symbolically declaring the ice rink open went to the Mayor of Centar Municipality, Nedžad Ajnadžić, who said he was pleased that such an event as the Holiday Market was organised in the area of Centar Municipality, Patria reports.

– I am glad that tonight I have the pleasure and honour, on behalf of my present associates and representatives of Centar Municipality, to declare the ice rink open. On the occasion of this event, we share the greatest satisfaction with our youngest fellow citizens and friends, and children from other municipalities are also welcome. The scale of this event and the attendance have exceeded even my expectations. As a socially responsible local community, we will continue to support this project, with the aim of enabling our youngest population to skate for free during the winter break. It is better to skate and engage in sports than to sit in stuffy and crowded spaces, concluded Mayor Ajnadžić at the end of his address.

The youngest members of the Hockey Club "Vukovi" played an exhibition hockey match on this occasion. The organiser also placed four plastic penguins on the surface to assist unsteady skaters.

Skating on the ice surface, covering 400 square metres, will be free for all citizens thanks to the sponsorship of Addiko Bank and with the support of Centar Municipality, in whose area the Coca-Cola Sarajevo Holiday Market is located. Skate rental will cost a symbolic 2 convertible marks, and the ice rink will be open until 14 January 2017, i.e. until the end of the Holiday Market, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM every day. Skating sessions will last one hour, with half-hour breaks between them to clean and prepare the ice surface for the next session. The ice-making technology allows skating even at temperatures up to 15 degrees Celsius above zero.
