Largest mosque in Turkey opened

ISTANBUL, (Patria) - The largest mosque built in modern Turkey, Camlica in Istanbul, was opened on Thursday evening.

This is a new mosque located on Camlica hill on the Asian coast of the Bosphorus. It was built in the Ottoman-Seljuk style with elements of modern construction and, due to its appearance and location, it already represents a striking symbol of the city on the Bosphorus. The mosque was opened with the morning adhan for the dawn prayer, on the occasion of Laylat al-Raghaib, which marks the beginning of three holy months in the Islamic calendar. 

The mosque can accommodate more than 60,000 worshippers (around 25,000 inside, 12,500 in the courtyard, and about 22,500 in the outer courtyard).
