Cultural-tourism event Mostarsko ljeto 2018 opened

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Last night, the ceremonial opening of the international cultural-tourism event „Mostarsko ljeto 2018“ was held in front of the Center for Culture of the City of Mostar.

Mostarsko ljeto was opened by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, who thanked the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to declare such a significant event open. Chairman Zvizdić emphasized the importance of this event for Mostar, expressing hope that the organizers, with the help of their partners and other government institutions, as well as the Council of Ministers itself, will succeed in their intention to work very successfully on spiritual development and strengthening the cultural and tourism capacities of Mostar.

On behalf of the organizers of „Mostarsko ljeto“, the director of the Center for Culture, Senad Suljić, addressed those present.

- The event has become an international affair and thus significant not only for the City of Mostar but also for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Recognizing the quality and importance of "Mostarsko ljeto", many countries, through their diplomatic-consular missions, wish to be part of this project with the intention of promoting the values of their countries, as evidenced by tonight's program from our friends from France - Suljić stated.

The general sponsor of the event „Mostarsko ljeto 2018“ is the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, on behalf of which Minister Rašid Hadžović addressed the visitors, emphasizing the firm decision of the Ministry to support „Mostarsko ljeto“, whose activities contribute to the improvement of not only the cultural offer and diversity of cultural content but also the strengthening of tourism capacities.

Special emphasis was placed on the concert by Dino Merlin, which will be held on August 11 on the plateau below the Old Bridge, the organization of which was also supported by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Environmental Protection of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the company BH Telecom.

Those present were also addressed by Raid Faure-Abu Zaideh, Deputy Director of the French Institute and Attaché for the French Language at the French Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who thanked the organizers of „Mostarsko ljeto“ for the opportunity for the French Institute to be one of the partners of this year's event.

The ceremony was also attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Mostar, Zerrin Kandemir, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Mušić, the Chairman of the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Šerif Špago, and many other representatives of political and social life, as well as numerous citizens of Mostar.

At the opening itself, those present had the opportunity to enjoy two events: a concert by young French singer-songwriter Pomme and an exhibition of paintings by academic painter Anel Pala.

Pomme is the artistic name of the twenty-two-year-old singer-songwriter from Lyon, Claire Pommet. For the Mostar audience, she played several instruments (guitar, autoharp, and mini piano) and sang songs that, in an accessible style of French chanson, sometimes convey complex issues of growing up, society, and, of course, love.

Anel Pala is a young academic painter from Mostar who presented himself to the public for the first time with a solo exhibition titled „Mediterranean“, about which, besides the artist, the president of the Association of Visual Artists of Mostar, Zlatko Serdarević, also spoke.

The next program at „Mostarsko ljeto“ is a children's play titled “The Monster from the Theater and the Puppeteer's Children”, based on the stories “The Monster from the Theater” by Rijad Ljutović and “The Puppeteer and His Children” by Fahrudin Kučuk.

The play will be on stage at the Puppet Theater in Mostar on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 12:00 PM, and admission is free.
