Laboratory for Simulations in Logistics and ITS Opened at the Faculty of Transport and Communications of UNSA

The Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović, the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, and the Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Communications, Prof. Dr. Amel Kosovac, today officially opened the Laboratory for Simulations in Logistics and ITS by cutting a ribbon. This laboratory represents the management and IT-communication superstructure of the classic transport and communication system at the Faculty of Transport and Communications of the University of Sarajevo.

“I am honored by the opportunity to open this laboratory, which from today will be available for the use and education of over 800 students of the first, second, and third cycles of study at the Faculty of Transport and Communications of the University of Sarajevo,” said Minister Husić-Mehmedović after the opening.

She added that by working in the laboratory, students will develop skills in connecting individual teaching units, which are covered within the implementation plans of various courses, and which are necessary for the creation of quality final, master's, and doctoral theses in the field of transport and traffic technology.

Otherwise, teaching will be conducted in this laboratory for courses that, within their curriculum, involve the use of specialized computer programs for modeling and testing logistics systems, as well as simulations of ITS operations necessary for learning and thorough understanding of the logistics system as a whole.

“Working in the Laboratory for Simulations in Logistics and ITS is an important and indispensable part of education for students, as it helps them understand and test complex technical and technological systems within the logistics transport process,” stated the representatives of the Faculty of Transport and Communications on this occasion.

The great importance of acquiring and using this equipment in adapting to the standards and norms in the field of higher education and scientific research activities of the Faculty of Transport and Communications was also emphasized.
