Center for Healthy Aging Opened in Centar Municipality

In the presence of numerous dignitaries, on January 18, 2016, the first Center for Healthy Aging in the Centar Municipality was opened, with the Municipality investing half a million convertible marks in its renovation and equipping.

The Center is located at Maršala Tita Street 12.

The Mayor of Centar Municipality, Dževad Bećirević, handed over the keys to the renovated premises of the Center for Healthy Aging (formerly the restaurant 'La Famiglia') to Svjetlana Fabijanić-Grbić, president of the Association 'Partnership for Public Health,' which will implement the project intended for persons over 60 years of age.

In his address to those present, Mayor Bećirević emphasized that the ideas for opening and managing such a Center were adopted from the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.

– We invested significant financial resources to open such a representative facility for our pensioners, where they can spend their free time usefully and meaningfully.

Although we do not have jurisdiction in that area, this is not the only project that Centar Municipality is realizing for our pensioners. For years, we have been allocating money and buying medicines for the most vulnerable pensioners, financing the home visit project for the elderly and sick, and providing financial assistance to over 300 pensioners every month for the purchase of basic food items – said Bećirević.

The Center for Healthy Aging of Centar Municipality, with an area of 324 square meters, will offer seniors a free, engaging, all-day stay. They will have at their disposal a day room, a kitchen, a room for social games, and a library. The Center also features equipped rooms for various types of training and a computer room. The restrooms are adapted for the elderly and disabled. At the entrance to the Center, there is a reception and a room for a psychologist. The author of the project task for the renovation of the Center's premises is Ljilja Borovčanin-Ćirković, while the company „I.D.E.A“ created the main project.

The working hours of the Center for Healthy Aging are from 9 AM to 3 PM every working day.
