Kidnappers killed daughter of wealthy entrepreneur for whom they demanded one million euros

The body of the daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur, who was kidnapped last week with a ransom demand of one million euros, has been found in Germany, reports the Patria News Agency.

Anneli-Marie R. was abducted from the street in the town of Meissen last week while walking her dog, and police lifted the media reporting ban on the kidnapping on Monday, after failed negotiations over the weekend. 

The parents pleaded for the girl's safe return and promised the kidnappers they would pay the demanded amount, but special police in Dresden discovered her body yesterday on an abandoned farm in the village of Klipphausen, not far from where she lived.

Police discovered the body thanks to dogs and a helicopter equipped with a thermal camera. 

"We are operating under the assumption that it is Anneli," said police spokesperson Thomas Knaup, adding that two people have been arrested for murder and kidnapping, one from Dresden and the other from a town in Bavaria. Local media report that they are an unemployed 39-year-old man and a 61-year-old man employed in the metal industry. 

"Anneli, we will miss you, we are with you," reads a statement to the media from the parents, who are being cared for by police psychologists.
