Smuggled cigarettes discovered and seized

Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority on the Trebinje-Ljubinje route temporarily seized 2,170 packs of foreign cigarettes, "MARBLE", which were not marked with ITA excise stamps.

Authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Department for Enforcement of Regulations, Regional Centre Mostar, while carrying out extraordinary activities on the Trebinje – Ljubinje route, inspected a truck driven by D.Š. from Trebinje. After preliminary checks, excise products (foreign cigarettes) without BiH ITA excise stamps were noticed.

With an oral order from a judge of the Court of BiH, a detailed inspection of the vehicle's cavities was carried out on the spot using an endoscope donated through the EXBS program. During this inspection, 2,170 packs of foreign cigarettes, "MARBEL", without excise stamps, of unknown origin and unknown quality were found.

In accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Violations of BiH, a request for the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the perpetrator of the described irregularities before the competent court.
