Plaque unveiled on the minaret of the Dženan Memić endowment mosque

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - On the fifth anniversary of the death of young Dženan Memić, whose death remains unclarified to this day, a memorial plaque was placed on the minaret of the Glavogodina mosque, testifying to the endowment of Dženan Memić. The construction of the minaret was financed by money that belonged to Dženan Memić before his death.

The memorial plaque reads:

"I AM PEARLY, PURE AS THE SOUL OF MY ENDOWER. I ROSE TO LET THE TRUTH BE HEARD, TO EASE THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHOSE TEARS ACCOMPANIED A BELOVED TO THE BELOVED. MAY MY HEIGHT HELP JUSTICE TO RISE ABOVE OPPRESSION, AND MAY MY WHITE FACE REVEAL THE WRONGDOER AND THE OPPRESSOR IN THE DARKNESS. MY ENDOWER BEGAN THE CONSTRUCTION, AND HIS FAMILY PLACED IT IN THE NAME OF THE MERCIFUL CREATOR. ENDOWMENT DŽENAN MEMIĆ 2020".

The plaque was unveiled by father Muriz Memić and the family's lawyer Ifet Feraget.

Asad ef. Fočo also sent a message, supporting the Memić family in their fight from the very beginning, even though he himself was targeted with the most brutal threats.

"The minaret is an endowment to us from an honorable young man, may our endowment be the fight to punish his killers and their accomplices," ef. Fočo conveyed.

Dženan's sister Arijana also made a statement, posting a photo of the mesjid with a built minaret 22 meters high.

"May it forever be a reminder of a pure heart. Thank you, Almighty Lord! Thank you for everything," wrote Arijana.

The height of the minaret is symbolic because Dženan died exactly five years ago at the age of 22.

On the night of February 8, while he was with Alisa Mutap in Velika aleja, he sustained injuries from which he died on February 15, 2016. The family has claimed from the beginning that Dženan was murdered, and lawyer Feraget stated that there were several people present that night, one of whom struck him the blow that would lead to his death.
