Monument unveiled to little Nermin killed by a Serbian sniper near the National Museum in '94

A memorial to seven-year-old Nermin Divović from Sarajevo, who was killed by a Serbian sniper in 1994, was ceremonially unveiled today by a group of children from Sarajevo's Fatima Gunić Elementary School.

The monument, erected in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, near the spot where Nermin was killed, will bear witness to the greatest crime in the history of Sarajevo, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

The boy Nermin was killed by a sniper's bullet from aggressor positions in the building "Metalka" when he was seven years old, while his mother was seriously wounded by the same bullet. 

The image of the killed boy Nermin circled the world

A Serbian sniper fired at the boy and his mother on November 18 as they were crossing the street between the National Museum building and the Faculty of Philosophy. The photograph of the killed Nermin circled the entire world.

The memorial to the boy was erected thanks to the efforts of the non-governmental organization AntiDayton Group.

Many citizens of Sarajevo attended the unveiling, writes NAP.
