Problem of signing tax returns with a digital qualified signature resolved at the Indirect Taxation Authority

(Patria) - Taxpayers – users of the ePorezi portal can now sign their VAT returns without any issues, resolving a problem that arose on January 1, 2026.

Namely, the Indirect Taxation Authority uses the EU DSS library for validating electronic signatures, which is in line with the eIDAS directive. Since a new version of the mentioned library began to be used at the start of 2026, the ITA had to upgrade it to version 6.4, and due to the security of the entire information system of the Authority, it was not possible to sign tax returns from the beginning of the year.

As the ITA has since upgraded the electronic signature validation system, taxpayers can now sign their returns with a digital qualified signature.

We remind you that taxpayers submit VAT returns by the 10th of the current month for the previous month. Since January 10 is a non-working day, the deadline for submitting December VAT returns is moved to the first working day, which is January 12, 2026.
