Session of the University of Sarajevo Steering Board cancelled, no decision on tuition fee increase yet

The session of the University of Sarajevo Steering Board, which was supposed to be held today at 3 PM and on which the Senate's decision on increasing tuition fees was to be discussed, has been cancelled, confirmed for the BH News Agency Patria by Steering Board member Prof. Dr. Velija Katica.

- I was informed around 12 PM that there would be no session, while I was at the Teaching and Scientific Council at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and that the next one is scheduled for seven days from now. I still stand by my position, I will not vote for the proposal to increase tuition fees – says Katica.

We remind you that the UNSA Senate made a decision on June 25 to increase tuition fees and other costs at the faculties. Professor Katica believes that such a decision by the Senate is unnecessary, and that it should not have been done or proposed in these difficult times.

- I think there is some other reason. You see that faculties have problems with financing, and elections are coming up. I don't know what to say about all this – says Katica.

Katica confirmed that this item was not supposed to be on the agenda, but it could have been added according to the Rules of Procedure, writes Patria.
