Traffic difficult in western Bosnia due to snow, landslides frequent on roads

(Patria) - Traffic is difficult due to snow falling in western Bosnia. Trucks over 7.5 tons must use chains over all mountain passes in this part of our country.

On most roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina, traffic is on wet and occasionally slippery roads.

Due to the weight of the snow, there are frequent reports of fallen trees and branches on the road. Also, BIHAMK draws attention to falling rocks on the road.

We ask drivers to plan their trips in accordance with the weather situation. If you are traveling long distances, take more frequent breaks. Be as careful as possible, do not set off without winter equipment. Maintain distance between vehicles and avoid risky overtaking.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

Due to frequent water overflows onto the road on the Stolac-Tasovčići main road, additional warning and restriction traffic signals have been installed. We ask drivers to adjust their driving to the road conditions.

Due to winter driving conditions in the Republic of Croatia, a ban on traffic for trucks with trailers and semi-trailers is in effect at the Izačić border crossing.

Long queues of passenger vehicles are present at the Gradina and Gradiška border crossings for exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina. At other border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic is experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes.

Due to Orthodox Christmas, a ban on the transport of explosives on roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina is in effect today from 12:00 PM until tomorrow, January 7, 2026, until midnight.

Due to the registration of passengers under the new entry and exit system for European Union countries (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. As of December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. Traffic for all trucks is prohibited at the Šepak border crossing.
