Traffic difficult on roads in BiH

(Patria) - Based on information available to the BIHAMK Information Center, traffic conditions on the roads in Bosnia and Herzegovina are difficult, especially in the western and mountainous regions. Due to fallen trees, traffic is suspended on the Bosansko Grahovo-Strmica main road, while traffic for heavy goods vehicles is banned on the Bosansko Grahovo-Drvar and Bosansko Grahovo-Resanovci routes.

The use of chains for heavy goods vehicles is mandatory on the Kupres and Koprivnica mountain passes, while traffic for heavy goods vehicles is banned on the Romanija and Rogoj passes. Strong winds are hindering traffic in the wider areas of Bihać and Bosanski Petrovac, and snow on the road is further slowing down traffic on the Bihać–Bosanski Petrovac–Ključ–Sanski Most section.

For better traffic flow and increased safety, we ask drivers of heavy goods vehicles to use chains on mountain passes where indicated by traffic signs.

Due to intensive local snowfall, traffic is also more difficult in urban areas. We warn drivers to be extra cautious and adjust their speed, especially due to pedestrians who, due to snow on sidewalks, often walk on the road itself.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

Due to frequent water overflowing onto the road on the Stolac-Tasovčići main road, additional warning and restriction traffic signs have been placed. We ask drivers to adjust their driving to the road conditions.

At border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic is proceeding with delays of up to 30 minutes. Due to winter driving conditions in the Republic of Croatia, a ban on traffic for heavy goods vehicles with trailers and semi-trailers is in effect at the Izačić border crossing.

Due to passenger registration under the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. From December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open for all categories of vehicles. Traffic for all heavy goods vehicles is banned at the Šepak border crossing.
