Father of missing Split resident denies that his son is in footage from the Sava River

(Patria) - Nenad Periš, the father of missing Split resident Matej, denied information that the young man swimming in footage published by Serbian media is his son. He stated that he confirmed to the police that his son is in the footage from the city where he is running and trying to stop a taxi. 

"Not all the footage that has appeared shows Matej. Along with the footage where he is seen, some clips that have nothing to do with Matej are being linked, and I don't know why that is being done. I never said that the footage of someone swimming in the Sava River shows Matej. I don't believe at all that this is footage from that evening. I was interested because I wanted to know what the water temperature was that evening, and it was five degrees. I am a water polo player, I have been in the water my whole life, and there is no way you can swim like that at a temperature of five degrees, even in a wetsuit, let alone without one," said Periš for Index.hr. 

"The footage where he is running and stopping a taxi shows my Matej, I can confirm that. I don't want to comment further. We should let the police do their job because in this way, by inserting other footage, the search is only made more difficult. Those police officers have to wade through a forest of footage, review it all, and such things certainly do not help them. Once again, I want to express great gratitude to the Ministry of Interior of Serbia; I think they are doing their job very professionally," said Periš.
