Condemnation of Discrimination Based on Religious Beliefs: Islamic Community of BiH Concerned Over Edvin Omerović's Dismissal

Following information that Edvin Omerović's religious beliefs were the reason for his dismissal from work at Tuzla International Airport, the Public Relations Office of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community issued a press release, which the Patria news agency transmits in its entirety.

The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses deep concern over the emergence of information indicating that Edvin Omerović's dismissal from Tuzla International Airport was also contributed to by the fact that he adheres to Islamic principles in his life. Discrimination based on religious beliefs deserves the strongest condemnation and should not be present or tolerated in a democratic society.

Therefore, the Islamic Community expects that the issue of handing over the dismissal notice to Edvin Omerović be thoroughly investigated and the circumstances that led to this outcome be clarified, especially in the context of discrimination based on religious beliefs.

At the same time, the Islamic Community once again points out, especially to young people, the necessity of caution when establishing contacts with organizations and individuals of suspicious character who spread harmful ideological teachings, so that they do not naively become their victims and get entangled in the dangerous web of their manipulation, the statement concludes.
