Sometime in late spring 2021, about a year before the General Elections, Senad Hadžifejzović was a guest on N1 television and said: “A friend of mine says: SDA must lose, even if it gets worse. It must go, even if it gets worse. Even if those who know nothing come”.
If we place the statement of Senad Hadžifejzović’s friend in the context of the moment we are living in, more than a year later, we can rightly consider it a prophetic curse on the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the state itself.
Not because SDA was on the path of good policies and solutions at the time the curse was uttered. SDA, with its largely poor personnel and political actions, contributed to its loss of power. But, to put it politically correctly, it is also true that SDA did not leave solely because the people punished them for such policies. SDA left by the will of the international community and the OHR, with amendments to the Election Law and the suspension of the BiH Federation Constitution.
SDA is not in power at the state and federal level today, and as the aforementioned prophecy predicted – it is worse.
And it is worse because the Trojka parties (SDP, Our Party, and NiP) have come to power, who, as Hadžifejzović’s friend’s prophecy stated, KNOW NOTHING.
If they knew anything, they would not have repeated SDA’s mistake from the previous term and allowed Milorad Dodik four delegates in the House of Peoples of BiH. That was the key moment by which the functioning of state power was most directly handed over to the secessionist SNSD. The sale of state interests was carried out by SDP, Nermin Nikšić, and Vojin Mijatović, and this act will not be rectified by the end of the current term.
When it came to the distribution of positions at lower levels in the security, tax, and other sectors, the Trojka as a whole again showed ignorance and incompetence. They handed over everything crucial to Dodik and Čović, trying to spin that after SDA, they restored ethnic balance. They did not, because, for example, Dodik controls the entire security sector of BiH, and Dodik and Čović control the financial sector.
The Trojka also showed that they know nothing at the federal level, where they completely allowed Dragan Čović to draw them into a trap from which they will not be able to escape as long as this government exists in the Federation. Because, besides Schmidt enabling him to control the entity by suspending the constitution, Dragan Čović got everything else from the Trojka.
He got a Parliament that functions as he wishes, and when the entire opposition tried to stop it, he got obedient followers in the Trojka who agreed to change and overthrow the Rules of Procedure with conclusions. And all this in order to deliver a Constitutional Court judge to Čović, as well as other demands that would come from the HDZ House. Čović took advantage of this and blocked all prosperous laws, imposing a discourse that exclusively suits him. Only a few adopted laws, mostly created in the previous term, are enough to describe the extent of HDZ's control over the Federation.
If we look even lower down the power hierarchy, it becomes clear how little those who came only to see SDA leave actually know. Sarajevo Canton is indebted, and political turmoil among factions within the Trojka has completely diverted focus from development projects to personnel solutions.
On the other hand, the Trojka, or rather its part known as SDP, boasts about the reconstruction of the railway, which is accompanied by accusations that the contract with the Chinese is non-transparent, as it is still unknown how much the railway renovation cost. At the same time, educators are protesting and demanding their rights, young people, doctors are crying out because the situation in healthcare is catastrophic, the security situation is seriously compromised, and the Trojka government behaves like North Korea with the slogan “it was worse during SDA”.
However, it is more likely that the prophecy of Hadžifejzović’s friend is true: SDA is gone, those who know nothing have come, and it is worse than ever.
And this is just part of the story about those who came and don't know. We haven't mentioned the complete blockade and abandonment of the NATO path, the general incompetence on the European path, the chaos with public RTV services, the connection of one of the Trojka leaders with a cartel from Dubai, the story “even God can’t help you if Abel Baltić doesn’t help you”...
And you know what the worst part is? The Trojka will continue to be a player in power for some time. So, we have seen worse after SDA, but I believe we have not yet seen the worst. And worse than bad can always happen, especially when ignoramuses lead the country!
