We are left without their money: In July, 30,000 fewer tourists than last year

Data from the Federal Agency for Statistics shows that the May floods had a significantly negative impact on this year's tourist season in our country, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

The total number of overnight stays, at least those reported, during July 2014 amounted to 97,854, which is 25% less compared to July 2013, and 18% less compared to June 2014.

Hoteliers and tourist organizations had earlier warned that the shocking footage of torrents in our country, sweeping everything before them, had almost halved the number of announced guests. Many canceled hotel accommodation just a day before their scheduled arrival during the May floods.

During July this year, Bosnia and Herzegovina was most visited by tourists from Poland. Poles make up as much as 16 percent of the total number of all tourists who visited our country in this month, writes NAP.

According to data from the Federal Institute for Statistics, by overnight stay structure, tourists from Croatia are in second place with 9.4 percent of overnight stays, followed by tourists from Turkey with 6.9 percent of overnight stays, Italy with 6.8 percent, and Slovenia with 4.9 percent of overnight stays.

Tourists from other countries make up the remaining 55.7 percent of overnight stays, writes NAP.
