Srebrenica Mayor Remains: Duraković's Resignation Will Not Even Be Considered

President of the SDA Municipal Board in Srebrenica and Vice President of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly Hamdija Fejzić said that the Assembly at its session on Tuesday, October 13, will not consider the resignation of Municipal Mayor Ćamil Duraković, reports the Patria news agency.

-His resignation was not submitted in the manner prescribed by the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Duraković should have sent his resignation to the Central Election Commission, not to the Municipal Protocol as he did, so the resignation cannot be placed on the Assembly's agenda, Fejzić told Patria.  

Duraković submitted his resignation after the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly at the end of September dismissed the director of the Srebrenica Health Center, Nenad Milošević.

Milošević was dismissed at the proposal of the SNSD Councilors Club, and the dismissal was supported by councilors from SDA, Party for BiH, and SDP.

Duraković said that he tried during the Assembly session to draw the councilors' attention to the fact that the Health Center is a service for all citizens, not for one political party. After failing to receive support from the Bosniak parties participating in the Assembly, from whom he had requested not to vote for Milošević's dismissal, Duraković resigned.

Hundreds of Srebrenica citizens – Bosniaks and Serbs – expressed support for Duraković and Milošević.

Last week, Duraković spoke at the SDA headquarters with Fejzić, Sadik Ahmetović, and Šefket Hafizović, and a compromise solution was reached to announce a competition for the director of the Health Center and to select the best candidate, rather than having the Assembly do it.
