Municipality Centar Donates 6,000 Convertible Marks to "Safvet-beg Bašagić" Primary School

Although the Municipality Centar does not have direct jurisdiction over education, for many years it has allocated significant funds from its budget to improve the education system and working conditions in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools located within its territory. The Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, has allocated 6,000 convertible marks from the 2016 budget to the "Safvet-beg Bašagić" Primary School, continuing the long-standing care for improving working conditions in this educational institution, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The aforementioned funds were allocated based on the proposal of the Municipal Council Commission for Education, and according to the established Criteria for the allocation of funds to educational institutions, as well as submitted requests and determined priorities.

According to the principal of the "Safvet-beg Bašagić" school, Lejla Dizdarević, the allocated funds in the amount of 6,000 KM will be used for replacing floors in classrooms.

- The donated funds mean a lot to us, because only the Municipality Centar, when it comes to the "Safvet-beg Bašagić" primary school, is attentive. Our school building is 125 years old and much needs to be renovated. Without the funds from the Municipality Centar, we would not be able to do anything. The donation of 6,000 convertible marks will be used to replace floors in two classrooms, which is truly necessary, considering the safety and health of our children. A big thank you to the Municipality Centar, which is the only institution that is attentive to our needs - said Dizdarević.

In the past few years, not including the funds donated this year, the Municipality Centar has allocated 40,300 convertible marks for the renovation of the school building, as well as equipping classrooms and laboratories in this school, namely: 5,000 KM for the purchase of school furniture, 14,000 KM for the renovation of the gymnasium, 13,300 KM for equipping student toilets, replacing floors and blinds in two classrooms, and 8,000 KM for the procurement of IT equipment and chairs for classrooms.
