Free theatre performances for elementary school students from Centar at the National Theatre

Thanks to the financial support of the Centar Municipality, visits of elementary school students from Centar to performances at the Sarajevo National Theatre continue during February 2015. It is planned that during this month, 664 students from ten elementary schools will watch four performances for free, reports the Patria news agency. 

On Tuesday, 3 February, seventh-grade students of the ''Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević'' Elementary School and eighth-grade students of the ''Safvet-beg Bašagić'' Elementary School watched the ballet performance ''Thumbelina'', which was made in a modern arrangement based on the fairy tale of the same name by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen. The choreography and direction of the performance were done by Nermina Damjan, the set designer is Boris Čistopoljski, and the costume designer is Amna Kunovac-Zekić.

A performance of Molière's comedy ''Tartuffe'' is planned for 16 February for ninth-grade students of the ''Alija Nametak'', ''Nafija Sarajlić'', ''Hasan Kikić'' and ''Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević'' elementary schools, while ninth-grade students of the ''Isak Samokovlija'' Elementary School and the Catholic School Centre will attend a performance of the opera ''Ero from the Other World'' at the National Theatre on 17 February. The comedy ''Marriage'', based on the literary work of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol, will be performed on 27 February for eighth-grade students of the ''Isak Samokovlija'', ''Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević'' and ''Hasan Kaimija'' elementary schools, and ninth-grade students of the ''Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak'' and ''Vladislav Skarić'' schools.  

Thanks to the financial support of the Centar Municipality and the cooperation of the National Theatre and the municipal Department for Education, Culture and Sports, 1,240 students, together with their teachers, watched seven performances for free on the stage of one of the largest cultural institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina during November and December of last year.

The Centar Municipality allocated 8,000 KM from last year's budget for the implementation of this significant project, and funds for its continuation are planned in this year's municipal budget as well, it was announced from the Centar Municipality.
