Sarajevo organisation of SD BiH founded, Bijedić wants social democracy to change society

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - An electoral conference of the Sarajevo organisation of the Social Democrats of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held tonight in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

SDBiH President Enver Bijedić said that only the idea of social democracy can change the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as announced on the official website of this party.

As he stated, the ultimate goal of SDBiH is to gather all social democratic parties as a counterbalance in BiH.

He emphasised that "the situation in society requires the formation of a social democratic option that will not be sterile and will not shy away from responsibility".

"We do not want in our work programme to only take care of individuals who will find their places in parliaments and cantonal assemblies, but who do not want to solve the real problems felt by all citizens of BiH", Bijedić said.

Bijedić is of the opinion that "it is easy to be in opposition and criticise the government, without having the courage to enter the system of government and try to change something".

"The idea of the majority from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from Tuzla Canton was to oppose the passive state, and that is why we decided to form a new party. Already in that canton, we have more than 5,000 members", concluded the President of SD BiH.

He stated that the City Organisation of SDBiH Zenica has been established and announced that next week they will form bodies in Brčko District as well.

Lejla Tuco, President of the Initiative Committee of KO SDBiH Sarajevo, said that after the Electoral Conference, the first session of that committee will be held and members of the bodies will be elected.
