March 8 protest in Mostar: 'When were the women of Mostar silent?'

(Patria) - An informal group of non-governmental organizations "Mostarska mreža" has called on the citizens of Mostar to a protest march on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day.

"Together we raise our voice against injustice, for the rights of all women and an equal society. Under the slogan 'When were the women of Mostar silent?' we aim to draw public attention to the increasingly frequent violence against women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, discrimination against women, and the growing underrepresentation of women in the social, cultural and political life of Mostar, Herzegovina, and the entire state of BiH.

We invite all citizens of Mostar to join us on Saturday, March 8, and together show why the women of Mostar have never been silent in the face of injustice," the organizers said.



The initiator of the informal group of non-governmental organizations "Mostarska mreža" is the Initiative of Citizens of Mostar, and the network consists of: Initiative of Citizens of Mostar, Association "Vedri osmijeh" Mostar, Association "Novi put" Mostar, OKC Abrašević, Association "Kuća otvorenog srca" Mostar, Artistic Society "Mostarske kiše", Dance Studio Bdance, Scout Troop "Stari grad" Mostar, Youth Council of the City of Mostar, Women's Association "Vrba" Mostar, Association "Pozitiva" Mostar and Dance Studio Mo-Stars.

The gathering is planned at 12:30 in front of the Trade Union Hall in Mostar, and the route of the protest march is as follows: Trade Union Hall Mostar → Fejićeva → Old Bridge → Liska Street → Rondo → Lenjinovo šetalište → Španski trg.

The organizers noted that a music/poetry program will be held at Španski trg at 13:30.
