Osmanović at meeting with Jakab: Significant support from the World Health Organization to BiH

Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Adil Osmanović spoke in Budapest with the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe, Zsuzsanna Jakab, reports the Patria agency.

The meeting was held during the 67th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, and Minister Osmanović expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization for its support of activities outlined in the current biennial cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the WHO Regional Office for Europe, which are currently being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Discussions also covered priorities for cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the World Health Organization for Europe, which will be included in the agreement for the period 2018-2019.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the WHO Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Victor Olsavszky, and the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Hungary, Aleksandar Dragičević.

Minister Osmanović led a delegation of health authorities from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 67th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, held in Budapest from September 11-14.

At the session, the concept of the 13th General Programme of Work of the World Health Organization for the period 2019-2023 was presented, with the motto: Keep the world safe, improve health, help the vulnerable.

The roadmap for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was discussed, and Bosnia and Herzegovina presented progress in the area of early childhood growth and development programs, which institutions from the health, education, and social protection sectors have been successfully implementing with the support of UNICEF and other donors for 10 years.
