(Patria) - The Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, and the Minister for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, today signed an Agreement on resolving the housing issue of persons from the veteran population, through their temporary accommodation in housing units owned by this municipality.
The aforementioned apartments will first be renovated with joint funds from the Ministry and the Municipality. Additionally, an Agreement on co-financing the construction of a monument on Central Square, in honor of the IV Knightly Brigade, was signed, which the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs of KS will support with 100,000 KM. As Minister Osmanović pointed out, a series of bilateral meetings has resulted in long-term cooperation, which will certainly continue in the future.
‘Listening to the problems faced daily by members of the veteran population, of which the existential one is always a priority, we decided on this project. Together, we have invested the aforementioned funds in the renovation of several apartments in the Ilidža municipality, and I would like to take this opportunity to especially thank Mayor Muzur, who has been supporting projects for the veteran population for years.
Today, we also supported the construction of a monument on Central Square with certain financial resources, which will bear witness to the heroism of the members of the IV Knightly Brigade and their immeasurable contribution to the defense of Ilidža, as well as Sarajevo. We are continuing with projects and initiatives in the coming year aimed at improving the status of this category, and I hope that the exceptional cooperation with Sarajevo municipalities will continue’, said Minister Osmanović.
Ilidža Municipality will undoubtedly continue to support projects that nurture a culture of remembrance, but also that mean a better social status for the defenders from this municipality, said Mayor Nermin Muzur.
‘It is a great pleasure for me to announce the start of the construction of a monument that will be built on Central Square, in honor of our knights, members of the IV Knightly Brigade, a monument that will remain as a permanent reminder of the events of the nineties. Our defenders deserved it, and we remain committed to constantly reminding them of their merits. Minister Osmanović has my full support in improving the status of defenders of the Ilidža municipality, and I hope that with the funds allocated for this purpose, we have managed to start systematically resolving the housing issues of this category’, emphasized Mayor Muzur.
As previously announced, the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs and the Municipality of Ilidža will allocate a total of 200,000 KM for the mentioned project, in a 50:50 ratio, for the renovation of existing housing units.
