Osman Mehmedagić is a third-year student at the University of Travnik

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The BiH Parliamentary Joint Committee for Supervision of OSA's Work received a letter from the BiH Prosecutor's Office stating that Osman Mehmedagić is a third-year student at one of the faculties of the University of Travnik.

Committee Chairman Nermin Nikšić said that they will mind their own business, regardless of whether "someone likes it or not".

The Committee's session reviewed OSA's Budget. Committee members requested that the Director of OSA also be present at the session to hear some answers. 

"We have also been informed of the BiH Prosecutor's Office's letter regarding the disputed diploma of the OSA Director. We have agreed on a course of action, that it will not be the reaction of any individual, but of the Committee. The Committee is asked to respond whether it has ever had the opportunity to see the diploma, whether they are aware of the annulled diploma. We have also received supporting materials from the BiH Prosecutor's Office. From the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska, we received a letter stating that the diploma was annulled in Banja Luka, and from the Dean of the University of Travnik, we received a letter stating that this University did not issue the diploma and that Mehmedagić is a third-year student at this University," Nikšić pointed out.

This is not my problem with Mehmedagić, but a problem of what message we are sending to citizens if the director of OSA is appointed without a diploma. 

"The law stipulates higher education, and we cannot send a message that it is okay without a diploma if you have some membership card, which is why citizens are leaving the country. I am not entering into his competence and expertise at all, I am talking about formal-legal reasons here," said the Chairman of the Committee for Supervision of OSA.

When asked about accusations that he was elected with the help of SNSD, Nikšić says "that he has not discussed support with anyone nor does he have any obligation towards that". 

"The only obligation is to act in accordance with the law. This is not a personal war against this gentleman. Whether someone would be better off if someone else were in my place, that is not my problem. This is not a personal relationship towards this gentleman, but towards the rule of law. I have no intention of engaging in mudslinging and I will literally adhere to the letter of the law and what the law places within the jurisdiction of the Committee," Nikšić said.
