Security for the Parade at the Highest Level

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Sarajevo police have blocked Titova Street, which will be used by participants of the first Bosnian-Herzegovinian Pride Parade today, while traffic has also been rerouted in the surrounding Sarajevo streets.

Security in the city has been raised to the highest level since the early morning hours. Special explosive detection teams are conducting counter-sabotage checks of the entire area to secure the route that will be taken by about 500 parade participants starting at 12 PM, moving from the Eternal Flame towards the State Parliament building, reports Patria agency.

Smaller groups of non-governmental organizations organized counter-rallies on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of preserving the traditional family, while a similar gathering a few hundred meters away from the parade is announced for Sunday.

The first Bosnian-Herzegovinian parade has attracted significant media attention in the region. Organizers have called for fair and accurate reporting.
