OŠ 'Edhem Mulabdić' marks 88 years of work: Tender for school reconstruction worth 2.36 million KM announced

(Patria) - With a ceremonial program attended by numerous students, teachers, parents and guests, the Elementary School "Edhem Mulabdić" in Zenica marked its School Day and 88 years of successful work.

The event was attended by the Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) Nezir Pivić, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mirza Mušija, and the President of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selvedin Šatorović.

Addressing those present, Prime Minister Pivić congratulated the students, teachers and school management on School Day, emphasizing that the ZDC Government continuously invests in improving conditions for upbringing and education and supports projects that contribute to a higher quality educational process.

- We consider this school very important. Today I can share the joyful news that a tender has been announced for the reconstruction of the entire school, worth 2,365,000 KM.

This is the largest single amount allocated for one school in our canton. I expect that work could begin soon, perhaps already during the school break - said Pivić.

He emphasized that the ZDC Government continues to invest in education, both through improving the material status of employees and through support for students and infrastructure projects.

- In the past two and a half years, we have increased salaries for education employees several times, and a new increase is planned for next month.

We continue to provide free textbooks for all elementary school students and invest in improving school infrastructure throughout the canton - Pivić stated.

OŠ "Edhem Mulabdić" is one of the schools included in a large energy efficiency project being implemented with the support of the German Development Bank KfW.

The project includes thermal insulation of the building, replacement of energy sources, and internal reconstruction of the school, which will significantly improve conditions for students and teaching staff.

The preparation and tender announcement process took longer due to procedures accompanying projects financed by KfW funds.

Minister Mušija highlighted the importance of educational institutions that, through their work and results, contribute to the development of the local community and society as a whole, emphasizing that students are the greatest value of any educational system.

As part of the program, the achievements of students and teachers from the past school year were presented, and through an appropriate cultural and entertainment program, students showcased their talents, creativity and knowledge.

School Day was an opportunity to once again emphasize the importance of investing in education as the foundation of societal development and creating better conditions for future generations.
