A four-member delegation of the non-governmental and non-profit organization Mercy from Malaysia, led by Dr. Mohamed Iqbal Omer, visited the capital of BiH earlier this week, writes the BiH news agency Patria.
Besides visiting the Malaysian ambassador to BiH, Anuar Kasman, who informed them about the situation in BiH and the consequences of the floods, the delegation also visited the Rijaset of the Islamic Community in BiH.
Mercy Malaysia generally helps areas affected by natural disasters worldwide. They offered assistance in terms of personnel, i.e., doctors, medicines, or support in infrastructure reconstruction.
Member of the Operational Staff of the Islamic Community, Senaid Zajimović, proposed visiting hospitals in Zenica, Doboj, Maglaj, Tuzla, and other flooded areas. The Operational Staff provided a list of urgently needed medicines that will be distributed to flooded areas, writes NAP.
The Malaysian ambassador welcomed the initiative launched by the Malaysian newspaper TheSun and Mercy Malaysia to establish a fund to help BiH, and offered assistance in organizing the trip so that an expert team could assess the damage.
