Orban's conspiracy theory: Refugee wave is a plot by leftists who want to populate Europe with sympathizers

The wave of migrants flocking to Europe from the Middle East and Africa might be part of a leftist plot to populate the continent with their sympathizers, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told a Swiss magazine, the Patria News Agency reports.

Orban's anti-immigrant rhetoric and the fences with which Hungarian authorities diverted the wave of refugees and migrants towards neighboring countries have strengthened his position at home, where he is celebrated as a victor in the migrant crisis that is dividing the European Union.

-I am not brave enough to speak about it publicly with certainty, but it is impossible to shake off the impression that there is some kind of master plan behind it, Orban said in an interview with Die Weltwoche published on Thursday.

He cited the experiments of "European leftists and radical American Democrats" who envision a European superstate at the expense of traditional nation-states.

-They see migration as an opportunity... All indicators and experience suggest that the vast majority of these migrants, once they acquire civil rights, will vote for the left, so that future voters for the left are imported into Europe, he said.

When asked why conservatives like German Chancellor Angela Merkel are opening their doors to migrants, Orban replied:

-Many of us are racking our brains over this question. Germany is the key. And when the Germans one day say 'We are full, enough is enough,' the influx will stop immediately, he said.

Orban believes that the Chancellor's hands are tied due to the coalition with the Social Democrats (center-left). Europe is deeply divided on how to deal with the refugee wave, and Orban has distinguished himself with the stance that an increased number of Muslims could threaten European Christian values, Index writes.
