Orban: EU is at war with countries from which refugees arrive

European Union member states are at war with the countries from which migrants arrive, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who emphasized that for the security of NATO members it is necessary to stabilize the countries of emigration, reports the Patria news agency. 

"Since the terrorist attacks in Paris, we are no longer talking only about a threat but about real attacks, and Hungary takes this war against terror seriously," Orban told reporters.

He called for increased control of the migrant wave in the far south and confirmed to Stoltenberg Hungary's commitment to NATO. Europe must identify every single migrant and determine the reason for their arrival in Europe, the Hungarian prime minister said.

The migrant crisis is humanitarian at its core and can be resolved if conflicts in the countries of origin of migration are resolved, Stoltenberg said. He assessed that these countries need to be stabilized, and if they are able to fight terrorism on their own soil, then NATO members will be safer.

Hungary and NATO have been successful in monitoring the airspace over the three Baltic states, NATO members, Orban said and promised that Hungary will continue to participate in the mission in Afghanistan in 2016. Hungary will not withdraw from missions around the world in which 1,000 Hungarian soldiers are participating, Orban said, writes Index.
