Indictment against eight people for war crimes in the area of Bosanski Novi

(Patria) - Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against DRAGAN ĐURIĆ, born in 1963 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH, SIME LIČINA, born in 1969 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH, NEDELJKO PILIPOVIĆ, born in 1969 in Kozarska Dubica, a citizen of BiH, ŽARKO KALIĆ, born in 1971 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH, MIRO BOSANČIĆ, born in 1969 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH, BOGDAN GRAB, born in 1962 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH, ŽARKO GRAB, born in 1966 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH, and JOVAN GRAB, born in 1970 in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, a citizen of BiH.

The accused are charged that, within the framework of a wide and systematic attack by the VRS directed against the Bosniak and Croat population in the area of Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad and its surroundings, from April 1992 to the end of November 1995, as members of the Military Police Platoon of the Light Novogradska Brigade of the VRS, they acted contrary to the basic provisions of international humanitarian law, and committed war crimes against victims of Bosniak and Croat nationality who were unlawfully detained in the Fire Station camp.

According to the indictment, the accused tortured, abused, brutally beat, and treated the detained civilians inhumanely, inflicting severe and life-threatening injuries, which have lasting consequences to this day. The indictment states that several civilians died as a result of the abuse, and several prisoners were taken by the accused in an unknown direction, where they were killed, and the mortal remains of several murdered persons have not been found to this day.

The accused are charged with committing the criminal offense of crimes against humanity under Article 172 of the Criminal Code of BiH. The prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 45 witnesses and submitting more than 150 material evidence. The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
