Opposition Fiercely Responds to Dodik: We Will Not Allow the Dismissal of Auditor Šnjegota

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik announced today the dismissal of the Chief Auditor of RS, Dušk Šnjegota, reports the Patria agency.

Dodik's announcement of the dismissal sparked strong reactions from the opposition. Three leaders of opposition parties in RS, Dragan Čavić, Branislav Borenović and Vukota Govedarica, held press conferences and stood in defense of Šnjegota.

The President of the People's Democratic Movement, Dragan Čavić, said that the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, has turned this entity into a ghetto, reports the Patria agency.

Čavić said that the dismissal of the Chief Auditor of RS, Duško Šnjegota, requested by Milorad Dodik, would be the abolition of the last institution in RS that has retained some semblance of independence, and that this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

- The last institution that was somewhat objective is the institution of the Main Audit Service of the public service. The call for Mr. Šnjegota to resign and the spreading of lies are the height of cynicism. The courts and prosecutor's offices have long been under enormous political influence of the SNSD and its leaders. The call for the dismissal of Šnjegota is completely unacceptable. If this comes to the agenda, we should leave the Parliament and not return until the elections – said Čavić.

The leader of the NDP stated that he will propose to coalition partners not to return to the National Assembly of RS until the decisions on the referendum are implemented.

- Enough is enough. What kind of surplus is it when the same Government does not pay subsidies for agriculture, how can they so brazenly lie to the public of Republika Srpska. That is a complete untruth. Every second earned mark goes towards loan repayment. We cover loans with loans – emphasized Čavić.

Čavić also commented on Dodik's announced referendum on NATO membership.

- Who is inviting us to NATO, is there any official invitation? We can discuss everything, but how long can Dodik push us into conflicts, how long? Does it make sense for generally free people to act like this if it continues this way. We are all hostages of one man, his party is captured, but we are free from the SNSD and we must no longer be hostages of such politics. In this country, only Dodik and his hangers-on are allowed to boast. He has completely lost his way in time and space. I pity those people who stood behind him listening to the pale things he says.

The President of the PDP, Branislav Borenović, holds the same position regarding the resignation of auditor Šnjegota.

- The auditor must not resign, but should continue doing his job. It is obvious that the truth hurts them, the truth that speaks about the results of the government's work. We are convinced that he will not be dismissed, and that he will remain a symbol of the fight against something that brings good to RS. This is an attack on the institutions of RS, because this is the last institution that works independently, professionally, in accordance with the law - said Borenović.

The President of the SDS, Vukota Govedarica, also stood in defense of Šnjegota.

- I call on Mr. Šnjegota to continue doing his job and not to submit any resignation. It is obvious that he is a man who works according to the principles of independence and according to all international standards. We will fight to ensure he is not dismissed. I am ready to fight in that Parliament, and whoever is stronger can dismiss Mr. Šnjegota – stated Govedarica.

Govedarica questioned what the President of RS, Milorad Dodik, is afraid of.

- What is Dodik afraid of? That we talk about the state of the RS budget, that we talk about how much money the banks have taken from the citizens of Republika Srpska? It is not a problem, let them do what they want, and we will propose interpellations. But that one day Dodik will not be the President of the Republic. Then RS will be a state that will allow MPs to discuss all topics permitted by the Rules of Procedure – emphasized Govedarica.
