PROBLEMS AGAIN: Intervention measures introduced due to air pollution for the entire Sarajevo Canton area

(Patria) - Due to the worsening air quality, and after intervention measures were already introduced for Ilijaš, the competent ministry of Sarajevo Canton issued an order to declare a Warning and expand these measures for the entire KS area.

Taking into account the average values of PM10 particles in the past 24 hours for all measurement locations, the current trend of increasing these pollutants, as well as the unfavorable synoptic forecast, the Expert Body proposed to the Ministry to declare a Warning.

As stated, the average daily values of PM10 for Ilijaš, Vogošća, Bjelave, and Otoka were over 90 micrograms per cubic meter, while in Hadžići and Ilidža they were very close to that limit. Given that the current synoptic situation indicates stable weather, light wind, from the north, northwest direction, with temperature inversion in the morning and evening hours, the trend of increasing pollutant particles could continue, as explained in the proposal of the Expert Body for declaring a Warning. It was also stated that a decrease in average sulfur dioxide values in the air has been recorded since yesterday.

Citizens are advised to follow the health guidelines of the KS Public Health Institute. Chronic patients and sensitive population groups should avoid staying outdoors during this period.
