Operational Staff of the Government of Sarajevo Canton revokes odd-even vehicle decision

Operational štab of the Government of Sarajevo Canton decided this afternoon to revoke the "odd-even" measure that came into effect on December 25, confirmed for Patria from the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

This measure did not apply to police vehicles, inspection bodies, the Ministry of Defense, public city transport, utility companies, vehicles with diplomatic plates, and emergency intervention vehicles.

Incidentally, the initial decision to introduce the odd-even vehicle rule sparked strong reactions from both citizens and the opposition because the decision came into effect on Christmas Day. Another controversy was that even the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton had no legal basis to sanction drivers who did not comply with the decision, and they only "recorded" the violators. 

Furthermore, experts warned that this decision would not contribute to reducing pollution because cars are not the primary polluters, but rather heating systems.
