Municipal Court in Bihać confirms indictment against Fikret Abdić

(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Bihać has confirmed the indictment of the Una-Sana Canton (USK) Prosecutor's Office against convicted war criminal and Mayor of Velika Kladuša Municipality Fikret Abdić for the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority.

He is charged with reasonable suspicion that on January 27, 2023, he exceeded the limits of his official position and the authority of the municipal mayor by adopting the Rulebook on the creation, use, storage, and destruction of seals in the administrative body of the Velika Kladuša Municipality.

In this way, he assumed all authority regarding the creation, use, storage, and destruction of seals of the Velika Kladuša Municipal Council, although he was aware that the Municipal Council is a separate representative body of citizens and distinct from the municipal administrative body, and that he, as municipal mayor, has no authority in performing tasks within the scope of the Municipal Council's jurisdiction.

Upon the Municipal Council's request for the return of the seal dated February 6, 2023, he refused to return the seal to that body, thereby seriously violating the Municipal Council's right to perform tasks within its jurisdiction, preventing it from using the seal for the purpose of certifying general and other acts adopted by the Municipal Council within its authority, confirming their authenticity, and preventing their publication in the official gazette of the Velika Kladuša Municipality.

Following the confirmation of the indictment, a hearing for a plea on guilt is expected to be scheduled by the Municipal Court in Bihać in the coming period, the USK Prosecutor's Office announced.
