Municipalities of Stari Grad and Centar opened a Center for Healthy Aging

By signing the Partnership Agreement, the mayors of the municipalities of Stari Grad and Centar, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and Nedžad Ajnadžić, launched the Center for Healthy Aging at Muhameda Kantardžića 3 street (the former Svjetlost building). The Center for Healthy Aging is located on the border of the two municipalities, which adds to its symbolism, as it is intended for the elderly population of both Sarajevo municipalities. The beginning of this significant project took place in March, when mayors Hadžibajrić and Ajnadžić signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, after which the complete renovation of this space was carried out and adapted for future users.

The implementer of this project, which is also a signatory to the Partnership Agreement, is the Association “Partnership for Public Health”. The coordinator of the Center for Healthy Aging, Varja Nikolić, thanked the mayors of Stari Grad and Centar, and their expert teams for the implementation of this project. She also added that this is a continuation of the expansion of the network of such centers throughout the city.

- A year and a half ago, the Municipality of Centar opened such a facility, and based on the excellent results and popularity among citizens, we decided with the Municipality of Stari Grad to open another center of this type for the citizens of both Centar and Stari Grad - said Nikolić.

Mayor Hadžibajrić attributed most of the credit to the Municipality of Centar and Mayor Ajnadžić.

- This is the credit of the Municipality of Centar because the costs and the space belong to their Municipality. The Municipality of Stari Grad has joined the project with an amount of 20,000 KM until the end of this year for various activities, and it will also include its Center for Health Promotion and Improvement in the work of this Center.

Namely, in the middle of this year, in cooperation with the Association „Generacija“, the Municipality of Stari Grad opened a center for all citizens of Sarajevo Canton at Obala Kulina bana 22 street. The activities were based on various health and physiotherapy programs, and these will now also be available in this newly opened Center for Healthy Aging.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Centar, Nedžad Ajnadžić, expressed great satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the two administrations for the benefit of their citizens.

- This Center is a good story and an indication that we can work together for the benefit of all those who are interested in using this center in their free time. I thank Hadžibajrić and his administration because we have easily found solutions to all problems, and I hope that in the future this center will actually fulfill its intended function.

After signing the Agreement, the mayors distributed blood glucose meters to the users.
