Tešanj Municipality: Construction of Wastewater Collection System Begins

The Mayor of Tešanj Municipality, Suad Huskić, signed a contract today with representatives of the companies “Euro-Asfalt” d.o.o. Sarajevo and the consortium HP “Investing” d.o.o. Mostar and “Inžinjering1” d.o.o. Jelah for the construction of the first section of the project "Construction of a Wastewater Collection System in the Area of Tešanj Municipality", reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The value of the contracted works is approximately 2.5 million KM. It is expected that the works on the first section will be completed by the end of 2015.

Tešanj Municipality has strategically defined the goal of building a unique system for the collection, drainage and treatment of wastewater from the wider area of the Municipality. This means that by 2020, around 45% of all citizens, both from urban and rural areas of the Municipality, would have their wastewater issue resolved.

- This is the largest infrastructure project in Tešanj Municipality to date. For the benefit of the citizens and the entire community, we are beginning to solve a problem that burdens us all. It is planned that the new sewage system will be built over the next five years. The estimated value of the construction of the new city sewage system is 24 million KM. Today we signed contracts for the first section of works, worth approximately 2.5 million KM. On this occasion, I would like to emphasize that the works on the first section will be financed by non-repayable IPA funds at a rate of about 90% - said Huskić.

Mayor Huskić explained that in 2013, a contract was signed for participation in the WATSAN project, which is being implemented in more than 10 municipalities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which is financially supported by the European Union through IPA grant funds and a favorable loan from the European Investment Bank.

- That is precisely the reason why we are signing a contract today for the construction of the first section of primary sewage collectors, about 7 kilometers long, worth about 2.5 million KM. The total project is estimated at 24 million KM and there is a commitment for Tešanj Municipality, together with the Municipalities of Usora and Doboj Jug, to build a joint wastewater treatment plant - said Mayor Huskić.

Today's contract was signed based on a successfully completed public procurement procedure for the works "Construction of a Wastewater Collection System in the Area of Tešanj Municipality, Collector B -V (sections II, III, IV and V) and reconstruction of the fecal water drainage on Titova Street".

The contract for LOT 1. - Collector BV (section IV, section V) and reconstruction of drainage on Titova Street, at a price of 1,000,546.94 KM, was signed with the company “Euro-Asfalt” d.o.o. Sarajevo.

The contract for LOT 2. - Collector BV (section II, section III), at a price of 1,440,014.92 KM, is to be realized by the consortium: HP “Investing” d.o.o. Mostar and “Inžinjering1” d.o.o. Jelah.
