Stari Grad Municipality: 200,000 BAM Paid for Completion of Works at Vrhbosna Elementary School

Stari Grad Municipality has allocated funds in the amount of 200,000 BAM for the completion of works on the construction of the second part of Vrhbosna Elementary School, in Faletići. The funds were secured through the sale of the municipality's portion of the land of the former Ferolektro facility, in the amount of 3,006,311 BAM, it was announced from this municipality, reports the Patria news agency.  

At the 41st session of the Stari Grad Municipal Council, a conclusion was adopted that part of the funds realized from the sale of the co-ownership share of the land at 16 Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street be allocated for the completion of works at Vrhbosna Elementary School (200,000 BAM), the construction of a playground at Ablagijin sokak (up to 50,000 BAM), the completion of the playground at Obhodža, and the implementation of the “Trebević Cable Car” project (500,000 BAM). The funds intended for the construction of the cable car will be realized if the main project for the construction of the cable car is submitted from the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo by the end of August, i.e., by the holding of the 42nd session of the Municipal Council.

-By paying these funds, we will enable the continuation of works on the construction of Lamela II at Vrhbosna Elementary School, and the school, which was destroyed in the war, will be completely finished. We financed the works in previous years as well, and thanks to these funds, students will soon move into completely new premises, said Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić.

He added that funds for the playgrounds will soon be transferred, in accordance with the mentioned conclusion of the Municipal Council.

-The preparation of project documentation for the playgrounds at Obhodža and Ablagijin sokak is underway. As soon as that is completed, we will transfer the funds for their construction as well, explained Hadžibajrić.

The principal of the school in Faletići, Mirsad Lelo, did not hide his satisfaction that the school will finally operate at full capacity. He explained that one part of the school was renovated with funds from the Government of Norway, while the other part, the so-called Lamela II, was entirely built by the Stari Grad Municipality.

With the paid funds, interior carpentry, flooring, tiling, painting works, as well as sanitary equipment and hardware will be done, and heating will also be installed.

-The School Board will immediately initiate the procedure for selecting a contractor, so that we can start working as soon as possible and make the facility available to our students,” said Lelo. He explained that between 280 and 300 students attend Vrhbosna Elementary School annually, according to the statement from the Stari Grad Municipality.
