Stari Grad Municipality Co-finances Insulation of Hamdija Kreševljaković Elementary School

Insulation work has begun at the Hamdija Kreševljaković Elementary School in the Vratnik neighborhood of Stari Grad, attended by around 350 students. According to the school's principal, Salko Huskić, all work should be completed by the end of October, so the school will be ready for the coming winter.

The insulation of Hamdija Kreševljaković Elementary School costs 227,795 BAM, of which the Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of the Sarajevo Canton provided 82,565 BAM, the Stari Grad Municipality 69,420 BAM, and UNDP 75,810 BAM. The contractor is the company „Sela“.

- The project includes roof reconstruction, facade insulation, and reconstruction of the boilers and heating system in the school building. So far, part of the roof and a section of the facade have been reconstructed. We expect the entire project to be completed by the end of October - Huskić emphasized.

He stressed that all windows and doors at the school have been replaced in the previous period, and that the implementation of the project will ensure better conditions for the stay and work of students and teaching staff.

The insulation of Hamdija Kreševljaković Elementary School is one of the activities within the project „Green Economic Development“ implemented by UNDP in BiH, funded by the Government of Sweden, the FBiH Environmental Protection Fund, and the RS Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, entity ministries of spatial planning, cantonal ministries, and other partners.

During 2017, the „Green Economic Development“ project covered four public buildings in the Sarajevo Canton: Hamdija Kreševljaković Elementary School in Stari Grad Municipality, Hrasno Elementary School in Novo Sarajevo Municipality, the administrative building of Vogošća Municipality, and the Hadžići Health Center.

For the insulation of these buildings, 1,201,905 BAM has been secured, of which 435,620 BAM was allocated by the Government of Sarajevo Canton, i.e., the relevant cantonal ministry, 400,000 BAM was provided by UNDP through the Government of Sweden, and 366,285 BAM was provided by the municipalities on whose territories the public buildings are located.
