Stari Grad Municipality dissatisfied with KJKP Rad's snow-clearing services

Stari Grad Municipality is dissatisfied with the performance of the company "Rad" in the winter maintenance of roads, sidewalks, bridges and stairways in Stari Grad. Although KJKP "Rad" is obliged to carry out the cleaning of the aforementioned according to clearly defined priorities, and for which the Stari Grad Municipality allocates 200,000 KM annually, the situation on the ground during the month of January was completely unsatisfactory, the Municipality announced, as reported by Patria.

The Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, ordered the Sector for Local Community Affairs to compile daily photo reports on the passability of streets, stairways, sidewalks and bridges in this municipality. Reports from secretaries of local communities showed that KJKP "Rad", despite the obligation to clean streets of the third and fourth priority 72 hours after the cessation of precipitation, did not do so even after a much longer period. More precisely, a report compiled on certain stairways and sidewalks of the second, third and fourth priority shows that they were not cleaned even by February 1, and only with the rise in air temperature and improvement of weather conditions did the snow melt and these parts become passable.

The locations in question are: Alifakovac and Veliki Alifakovac, Bistrik basamci, Garaplina, Bistrik brijeg, Kurtin sokak, Begovac, Ispod Budakovića, Skendera Kulenovića, Osmana Nakaša and Prvi bataljon.

The problem of inadequate street cleaning in Stari Grad was also discussed at sessions of the Municipal Council, and the leadership of the Stari Grad Municipal Council also held a meeting with representatives of KJKP "Rad" where it was said that the service would be improved, but it is evident that this did not happen. It was also emphasized that Stari Grad should be treated differently, precisely because of the specificity of its streets and neighborhoods, and that it must not be allowed for streets to remain uncleaned, both for the sake of citizens and because of the large influx of tourists into this part of the city.

Given that weather forecasts predict snowfall during the month of February as well, the Stari Grad Municipality appeals to KJKP "Rad" to approach the maintenance of roads, sidewalks, bridges and stairways in this municipality more seriously, so that the situation from last month is not repeated. Those responsible in this company are called upon to fulfill their obligations undertaken by signing the contract. Otherwise, the Municipality will have to take adequate measures, including, among other things, using the possibility to charge KJKP "Rad" a fee for each day of delay in street cleaning.
