Stari Grad Municipality Continues Landslide Remediation

The remediation of the most dangerous landslides in Stari Grad is underway and, as planned, by the end of this year the four largest active landslides declared by the Institute for Construction of Sarajevo Canton will be remediated, announced the Stari Grad Municipality, reports the Patria agency.

The landslide at 22 Save Skarića Street was remediated in July this year, by constructing a 24-meter-long retaining wall below a row of residential buildings that were at risk of collapse. The works cost around 64,000 BAM. Last week, works began on the remediation of landslides at two locations: Hladivode from number 3 to 5 and Pogledine opposite number 29, while works will soon begin at the Podcarina 29 location. For the works in Hladivode, the Municipality allocated over 92,000 BAM, at Pogledine 72,000 BAM, while the works in Podcarina will cost more than 48,000 BAM.

The funds were transferred to the Institute for Construction of Sarajevo Canton, which conducted the contractor selection procedure. At Pogledine, a retaining wall about 100 meters long will be built to stop the landslide. So far, a wide excavation has been made, about 20 meters of wall have been built, and foundations are being dug for its continuation. At the other location, in Hladivode, about 60 meters of the main drainage pipeline have been completed. Here, the existing stream will be treated with concrete and stone over a length of about 80 meters, and the fecal sewage system will be remediated over the same length. The Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, will visit the works at the mentioned locations during this week.
