Stari Grad Municipality and First Bosniak Gymnasium in a project that will connect all alumni of this school

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - All alumni of the First Bosniak Gymnasium will soon be connected into a unique database that will enable mutual networking of those who have established themselves as successful business entities with those seeking employment, connecting those interested in various forms of cooperation in the fields of education, sports, culture… The project is expected to increase the number of employed young people, and connect entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers and other successful individuals who graduated from the First Bosniak Gymnasium.

The project titled “Networking of Alumni of the First Bosniak Gymnasium” is being implemented by the First Bosniak Gymnasium Sarajevo, and is fully financed by the Stari Grad Municipality, which recognized its significance in terms of supporting young people who are trying to find a job or realize a business idea.

The director of the First Bosniak Gymnasium, Naida Muminović-Hota, stated that since its founding in 1995, this school has provided society with over two thousand well-educated young people: doctors, engineers, athletes, builders of a better future for this country.

- This is a project that came as a result of an initiative by former students of the First Bosniak Gymnasium. There are now over two thousand of them, and they are already in the business world, have their careers, and strive to be as good as possible. They wanted to network with each other to collaborate, and the school wanted to have a mechanism to valorize its work - said Muminović-Hota. She added that it is a web application that will be a tool for the school and alumni, and they will gladly share the idea with other educational institutions.

- Until now, we intuitively knew that our students are very successful, but this way we will also get real indicators of that, and the alumni themselves will have the opportunity to exchange information, for those who are entrepreneurs among them to seek employees, for those who are scientists to seek collaborators on projects, to give each other information about scholarships and grants, to network, to travel… - added Muminović-Hota.

The agreement on financing this project in the amount of 14,320 KM was signed today by the head of Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and the director of the First Bosniak Gymnasium, Naida Muminović-Hota. According to Hadžibajrić, this is an institutional action to connect and recognize successful young people and simultaneously employ those who need it.

- The municipality decided to support the project at full capacity, not only because the First Bosniak Gymnasium is located on our territory, but also because we believe that we need such an institutional solution that will give us a complete picture of our high school students and what they have achieved after finishing high school. At the same time, we will enable others to connect with them and establish cooperation - said Hadžibajrić.

He added that such a solution is also needed at higher levels, specifically at the canton level, but also at the level of the entire country. Speaking about support for educational institutions in the Stari Grad municipality, Hadžibajrić stated that annually, 10% of the total budget of the Stari Grad Municipality is allocated for this support, which is much more compared to other levels.

The project “Networking of Alumni of the First Bosniak Gymnasium” is currently in the testing and upgrading phase, as well as finalizing the legal framework in accordance with the Law on Personal Data Protection, and it should officially come to life on March 23 this year.
